where is the first plase to look when there is oil in your gear case oil? I have a cle gear case and when i drained the oil at the end of the season there was quite a bit of water in the oil. I use amziol lower unit oil which is clear to begin with so its hard to say how much water. Have never taken one of these apart before but i have all winter to mess with it.

I just had the same problem! See if this helps.....my mechanic told me it would likely be the seals under the water pump housing. He replaced it and no problems. I also had him replace the shifted seal cause it leaked too. So far so good!

Change the plastic washers under the filler and vent screws and run it some more before you do anything, and/or pressure test it if you can. A tiny bit of water isn't anything to panic about, just keep an eye on it and try the simple fix first.
90% of the time its the seal under water pump, also watch for double gasket for fill screw ,seen that show up at the shop many times ,even saw 3 gaskets once owner could not figure why he had water in unit .

pressure test it with soap and water, or change them all, or guess

Yeh, mine was pressure tested too. It just turned out to be cheaper to replace the two that I did cause the shop wanted ridiculous $$ to reseal the whole unit and I didn't have any output seal leakage around the prop. Oh ....mine did look like chocolate milk before I started the fix!

Check for fishing line on the prop shaft seal. Pull the prop and look.
