My boat came with a 175 that was replaced with a 200. It calls for a max of a 200 but wanted to know what would hurt putting a 225 or 250 on it same weight of course? thanks tim 20' fisher fish and ski.

I had a Checkmate Predictor (17 ft.) rated for a 125 HP eng. and put a 200 HP on it! (after I beefed up the transom, of course)
The boat was unmanageable... to say the least! Couldn't go over high 70s without losing control! I think maybe my hull had a problem!

That sounds like perfect power for that boat. I would have put an old V8 Johnrude on it :)

If the boat has a 200 on her and she has no problem with that the 200,225,260 2.5,s all weigh the same. Same block anyway. The 260 is lighter because they have less other stuff on them like cleaner fuel delivery system no VST tank or oil injection crap. Hull speed is a deferant matter. But can also be altered with a bit of pad work. Looks like a Glasstron in the avitar. If the transon is good more power shouldnt be a problem. But i would beef the transom up is your planning on keeping the hull while you have the 200 off. Check it out real good for wood rought as more power will have greater forces on the transom.

7 Marine? I've never heard of them, really cool.... really heavy, but cool. Intrepid use the the boat ramp that is very near my house for testing, a while back I saw a large fishing rig go by and I did a double take at the back of it but a city bus quickly obscured the view. I wonder if this is what I saw. Can you purchase them yet?

Thats what i thought, but didnt know for sure. Beefing up the transom how? Sounds like I need a 225 or 260 for her anyone got 1 near SE Missouri? Also what all has to be done to use my mid and lower off the 200 and just repowerhead her?

How is the health of your 200? If you buy a 225 not as healthy, no gain unless your buying new. How,s your speed and hole shot now and what are your expectations or goals . You should figure in a prop change with added HP. thanks.

200 ran high 60's low 70's on gps. Ran a worked 23 prop and came out of hole good and pulled great til 6000 rpm's. 225's r a dime a dozen on here.
