Hello Guys,
I am looking for upgrades for a Mercury 525EFI or 575SC? I am trying to get at least 700hp,but still have a reliable engine. Or should i just go with a new powerplant and outdrive. Outdrive now is BravoXR. Any help greatly appreciated!

Would you be able to post the link to the Frd K blog? Was looking for it in blog section but couldn't find it.

I would think the 575 platform would be the easier way to go... I'm not an engine builder, but a bigger cam and high flow heads can get you to 700HP pretty easily if you you don't want to go with a blower. The downside is they don't idle great and if carbed can load up without a very expensive carb...I think it's more the race boat way to go...
Senario 2 would be going the blower route on the 525. You get to stay fresh water cooled, nice idle, no loading issues, but it's more costly with a dyno tune and computer re-map and someone who knows what they are doing. Plus there is extra plumbing-a good bit with blowers. I like the 525, it's a great motor...I think it's a better package for the pleasure boater.
