Yamaha high press fuel pump

Does anyone know how to prime the press fuel pump. its a 2001 150 efi offshore. I pulled the drain plug on the bottom of the pump and the whole assy was dry. I hooked to a temp gas can and used the bulb. Got gas to the filter but cant get it to go in high press pump housing. thanx for any help.

Can you remove the discharge hose from the pump and get the pump primed, then reinstall discharge hose. my .02

Take the VST tank apart the needle for the float valve is probably stuck shut . Clean the superfine filter on the bottom of the pump while you are in there .

Yep, what Foley said. Its just a big float bowl and will gum up like a carb, just be careful with the gasket, it will try to come out of its groove and if it does, good luck getting it back in.

I had to replace my gasket, wow I cant belive how much it grew. Im thinking that gasket
should be in my spare parts kit

if the gasket comes out use spec lube 101 and fill the void it sits in works like a champ.
