How are you guys fixed for experience shipping whole outboards? It'll have a big crate around it and a bunch of other stuff in with it, like oil tank, controls, gas tanks, etc. I'd imagine it will end up around 500#.
What's the best carrier? I priced out Yellow Freight for an engine I was thinking about buying in TN and it was going to be $273 to ship into Canada. That sounded pretty good.
Needless to say, I haven't shipped an engine before. Any pointers?

So Tom, shipping a motor huh? hehehe
Looking for pointers, from TN, up or north is where I'd point.
Been kinda quiet on this thread, makes ya wonder doesn't it?
Truth of the matter is it is a Karma thing, way too late to consider details now. Good clean living and they could ship it in a tissue, got some debt? have some more! hehe
Now that I've posted, the haters will be by to help, shipping a motor. hehe
New motor? TN/AL border? Promax?
That's a good one though.
I am not Tom, I swear it! :D :) http://www.goldenplasma.f2s.com/forum/smilies/jump03.gif

Tombrown,
Give this guy a call and see if he can beat the rate you've gotten he always amazes me at the prices he can offer! 1 888 225 9422 ( Greg ) he is a freight broker and I have used him several times even shipping engines to Europe and was VERY pleased !
Good luck,

Hi Tom, a few weeks ago I shipped a complete 2.5 from Michigan to Nova Scotia. I used American Freightways & had very good luck with them. The total cost was $236.00. You can reach them @ 1800 874 4723. Hope this helps ! Scott

I'd been wondering when I was going to loose my membership for doing all the off topic posting. It sounds like you're suggesting that it's not about my membership, everyone will just freeze me out when they've had enough of my chatter. Fair enough.

Actually, I was looking for shipping pointers. I don't know what there is to say about it. Apparently nothing. I thought someone might offer some tips like emptying the oil tank prior to packing, take the key out of the ignition so it doesn't accidentally start, or some clever words like that. The guy shipping it has shipped an engine before. I'm sure he'll do fine.

Used motor. North of TN. XR4.
The Nashville thing was just an example. I don't know why I put that in there. I was probably super tired when I posted that. Sometimes I get semi-coherent.

Thank you. :)
Hey, what's with the sock puppet icon with a refer in it's mouth? These icons are too much. I could make frequent use of an icon in the form of a pre-cum funny face. It would go well with half of my posts.

Once you had written that you read all the post, had been reading some for about a year, a couple things occured to me.
First, let me check something, anybody in here Tom Brown...what .....what the hell did he say....oh, hehe, that's a good one, Ok, now that I'm sure I'm not you we may proceed.
Tom it seems for whatever reason, a few topics about which I may have been a bit outspoken about, you want to ask some questions on. The questions asked have had some added details to make them familiar, yet remain vague enough for the latitude to ask innocently, "what do you mean?".
My questions about a quiet thread, Karma, wonder comes from an impression I had when I read your post. The "hypothetical can of worms, bolts", now shipping a motor, remember the Mariner/Promax/Roadway saga? My first thought was you were intent on drawing these issue back out and through the mud.
I don't mind at all! :)
I did want to give you every opportunity to share your opinions, engage in some constructive dialog. Instead you want to cup and paistee convienient little phrases so you may mis-match purposely, spin doctoring some bit of technical data that is semi-related.
If indeed your only looking to verify information, why not just state the case, where your shipping from, shipping history of the shipper, what your ideas are for packing, VS any experience shipping motors?
If you want specific answers, ask specifically. If you just want to be entertained, play on some off topic stuff, just ask me directly, I won't hold back!
I am not Tom Brown!

No, you may not join, not unless your bringing two more in!
Checks in your email! :D
I'm not mad, just pretending to be mad at them, why do women like that? Nevermind, I kinda like it too.
I still love you Tom. ;)
