I lost all compression on one cylinder. I am not sure if I should have the engine rebuilt or what at this point.

I was already having problems with the 2nd engine (its a twin boat) and I think I had to much load on this one for the low RPM and it gave out.

I have heard some nightmares about rebuilds anyone know a good place? I am in Fort Walton, FL in the panhandle and willing to travel some to get it done right. Also how much can I expect to pay?

Price kind of depends on how bad your cylinder is. My 250 xs blew the same cylinder and trashed the sleve and the rod. I had it resleaved and got a used rod and was able to rebuild it my self for about $1000. If you have some mechanical knowledge you can do it your self with a good manual.

ITs def an avenue. I have rebuilt a few engines just never an outboard. I also have a whole other parts engine. I would just hate to do all the work and have it end up blowing up again. What manual did you use? And is there a manual out there that someone could email me?

I am still weighing options on what to do... How much do you think this engine is worth if I sold it as is?

I'm leaning towards doing it mysel now....does anyone have an electronic version of a shop manual for these engines?? Or know where I can find one?
