I have twin 2004 250XS. One of them is low on power and it seems like wherever I put the throttle it is much lower on RPM and fuel flow then the other engine. I have verified that the cables are adjusted and both engines are getting wide open. But the weaker one is almost 1/3 less fuel flow and much less power at WOT.
THe engine otherwise starts and idles fine, doesn't bog down and no alarm codes. Any ideas?

Sounds like it I agree. Can I do this myself or do I need the Optimax Scanner? Any info on the procedure?

Can't help you with that. But I am sure that there is someone on here that can.

Can anyone tell me how to check and/or adjust a TPS on an optimax?

Here is a link to an old mercury service bulletin for EFI TPS that will give you an idea but not the specifics.

there is no adjustment on a opti tps sensor. you will need a ddt or cds system to check output voltages. the link arm for the tps is not adjustable. you need to verift that you are not being sent into guardian for some other reason. if you do get a ddt run the motor under normal operation and check voltages and availible power.

You have two motors. Swap your sensors port to starboard and see if the problem follows.

I don't have a ddt but I do have a whole spare motor maybe I can just swap the TPS. Where is it located on these engines?

ALso I don't think it is going into guardian mode as there are no alarms. Or will it go into guardian mode without alarms?

I actually have 3 engines :). So all I need to know is what I am looking for, where is the TPS on these engines?

Should be connected to a throttle shaft somehow?

it is located on the port side of the motor above the vst. it will have a 3 wire connector and is held to the block by 3 screws. it will also have the throttle link connected to it.
