merc xr2 150 problem

took boat out made some good passes.....stopped the boat to check my gps and engine cut off......after trying for a few min it busted off and was running rough.... then after a few min it stop firing period.......there is a lil box mounted on the top of block on left side that the red wire feel out of is that my problem

EFI or Carb?
Most do go from fabulous to the end of a tow rope quick. Basics first, is it cranking with no fire?
Stop switch would be the first check if so.
