boat is a glassport bass scalper, which is a clone of the procraft 16' bass boats of the early to mid 80's.
engine is a 1979 johnson 115.
4" setback.
running a 13 7/8 x 17p viper at 4" below pad. average rpm is 5800 with very little trim. 43.1 mph alone, 41.8 with a passenger. holeshot is almost instant, good midrange, very tight turns.
Tried a 13.5 x 20p raker at 4.5", 4", and 3.5". 5500 rpm trimmed out, same speed. holeshot was slow, and as soon as the boat broke over onto plane, it was ventilation/slip city, from 3500 rpm to top speed. any ideas why there is so much more slip with the raker vs the viper?
Its pretty hard to find a viper in a 19p without paying $275+. I have a buddy who has a 13 7/8 x 19p SST im going to try, but im just wondering why there was so much more slip with the raker.
thanks guys
