View Full Version : Measuring diameter of a 3 blade??

Does it make sense to measure a 3 blade prop from the very center of the prop shaft to the outer most edge of a blade while it is still on the propshaft and then double the measurement?? That should give the total diameter of the prop of a 3 blade, right?

If so, does anyone know the correct diameter of an original Triton 1 3 blade?? I thought they were 13.5"??

Thanks
Craig

That's correct. I think the original Triton's were 14" or 14.25". May be wrong on that though

I own 5 tritons that were bought back in around 1985,they were 14 and a half and 14 diameters

OK, so then 14" diameter for a Triton 1 28P sound right? It's an awesome looking prop and can't wait to try it out. Just bought it used.

Thanks for the replies

Check with Merc Man, Tim Bostic at Hoss Propeller, give im the # and he can tell you what it is and when it was made.

Yeah, I already told Tim via email that I had one of his props and he said it sounds like it may be one of the drag props they built. I'm to run it and give him the numbers and we'll take it from there. I hope it is not a drag prop...that won't work on my rig!!
Thanks
