How about a thread to list the good vendor's on S&F. Kind of a "who to buy from and who to not".

Or how about a list of supporting vendors we could go to when we need to look for something?

Obviously the rating system on here "SUCKS" and it's totally worthless (no offense Greg) but I gotta call it like I see's it. This site needs a system that honors both vendors & members that we've all had transactions with. Now a days it's a pretty "IFFY" world we all have to wheel and deal in and a little rating/reputation background on those we sell to and buy from would surely help the sellers, buyers and vendors allot............

This old horse has been beat to death and it comes up every year or so. I just did a quick search on it looking for an old post by Greg but I do not see it. It was said before that there is no way to restrict it to only principles of a transaction and the lynch mob takes it over with hearsay and rumor. E bay limits comments to short and restricted to the buyer and seller. I think I remember it that Greg said for it to be done in the future here software not yet available would need to be put in to limit comments to only those directly involved. If not properly managed it can subject Greg and the website to liability and it was called a moderator's nightmare for that reason. People seem to want to chime in and post what they have heard rather than what they know. My neighbors brother in laws cousin heard from somebody in his neighborhood that they got screwed on a propeller from John Doe props so I thought I would warn everybody.

MercNuts,
I'm sure it's more than just turning on a switch or a stroke of the keyboard, but obviously some feel a need for this type of "Moderation" of some sort otherwise it wouldn't keep coming up as a subject line.

I'm not here to stir the pot, just stating my opinon and how it relates to those expressed by others in what I thought was an open forum on this site and it's membership..........

That couldn't be that hard...???

And to bring the thread back on track. Chris Carson did me right. Simon has helped me out over the phone several times. Obviously Jay Smith.

ive had good experiences with just about everyone that ive done buisness with here...flatsleek, sunapeeboater, rudejunkie & albypine just to name a few...i would have to go back and find the old threads to put up more names...i think for the most part everyone here is honest and isnt out to screw anyone but a rating system would be good...untill then we will just have to rely on threads like this

There used to be one before the new format.

I've dealt with an assload of people on this site, 99.5 times out of a hundred, not a single problem. Most good transactions have two things in common, 1 the seller is looking to have an honest transaction and give the buyer what he's asking for, and 2 the buyer is looking to have an honest transaction and give the seller what he's asking for. Here on S&F post count or time as a member are very important. Given enough time someone here will call you on your bs and everyone will know. It's the new guy's who most often get shafted when they deal with someone that has a high post count and have been here a long time,.................. even though they have a less than stellar reputation. I guess research is the key.

.... Sincerely, 243..........

That is because the search function on this new format sucks!

Some of these folks are not a lynch mob nor do they spread hearsay and rumor.

How can words typed by a person on an open public forum cause the owner of the forum to be sued? Especially when it is the truth?

Not me. I'd rather post what I know, not from what I have heard from an unreliable source.

You sound like one of the guys that when I posted about my problems, accused me of slander, lies, etc, etc. Until I posted many pictures proving my case... then they became silent. ;)

Bill you are right. Do a LOT of research. But with the search function being as useless as it is, that makes it really tough!!! :nonod:

Nothing wrong with posting up good guy sellers and buyers. There's a lot of good guys on here. And i'm sure they wouldn't complain. Don't know a seller or buyer that you may be thinking of dealing with? Post up a thread for any body with previous dealings with them to verify good guy status. I think a good guy list would be a fine idea. (and have suggested it before) But being that we live in a liberal America these days, someone might complain that it's not fair and want to sue somebody.... So, we are left to our own devices.....

The only person I bought from on here that I would avoid is rickracers. Everyone else has been very good, although I steer clear of the people who have had multiple issues posted. I think I have been very lucky on the internet. Frankly.
