The wood was in good condition except it was wet along with the foam underneath.

Instead of tearing everything out I decided to allow as much moisture to escape as possible and finish the floor with 3/16 plywood...came out pretty nice.

My Checkmate needs a transom, and has this big plate on it. The guy told me they tried a 200 on it but did not like it. Probably did not use a setback jack like it needs, but I see the holoes from it. You think they are plugged up? No way, they trashed it right there. Has some sillycone in there all falling out, and you would have to pull the motor to fix it. It was trashed a long time ago from that. What joe blow is going to pull the motor and fix it?

i guess were the prime candidates for that one, lmao!unless you have alot of money to throw out and hope you get some quality work.

Tell you one thing, it's a '73 and the guy has had it minimum 15 years since that was done. I can still go across lake with it now. That says something about quality to me, and that is why I keep considering fixing the ugly old thing. If I can get a building here, and find a cheap interior....still looking at 800-1000 for seats to be done. Ouch. If I put knees in there and hang a v-6 on a foot of setback on it....I'll have a ride.

yea you might as well do it right, then you won't have to worry about it later on!and a v-6 sounds like it would make it a sweet ride.
