Right in my back yard. The old Erie Lackawanna RR bed, The Hilltop Reservation, (formerly Overbrook Hospital Center and Sanitarium), and the Little Falls Powerlines.

I had to cut these trees down with my chainsaw this morning. What a pain in the butt. There were so many. One had pressure on it and when I got 3/4 through it, it snapped and nearly took my head off. Thank god for quick reflexes, cause I was by myself.

My friends and I went there to meet Helmut to ride this
past Sunday, and the cops ran us out. He said the
property switched owners and no more riding. Also
said anyone caught starting Sat. Dec. 9 will be fined
and their ride will be impounded. This really sucks!

Which town did you talk to? Manchester I heard is always a ball buster. I have a friend who lives on the outskirts of the pit. I will get the real deal from him. I'll still go there (I've got tin in my pocket) :D

not sure about which one gave us the ****. one town cop
came up to us first thing in the morn and was really cool and
ask us about our bikes, and said he wanted one. the one in
the afternoon had the problems, and he was from a different
locality. i never knew you could get your ride impounded if
you got caught riding on private property. helm never showed,
he got stuck on the parkway in traffic.

I went through the New Jersey laws last night. It is unlawful to ride on private property with out expressed consent of the property owner. All ATVs and snowmobiles need to be registered and insured to ride on authorized public property. To ride on your own private property of that of another (with consent) you don't have to be registered or insured. The minimum age in NJ is 14, and under 18 must have a cert. at all times from an ATV safety school.

I didn't find anything specific about impound, but I have to check further to find out if the land owner can authorize police to impound from their property. The most I saw in the line of fines was a max of $200. I spoke to a Wall Twp. cop that stopped me the other day when I had a quad in the back. He was telling me that Wall has an ATV unit that goes out and enforces private property in one of their pits. He said there is a $1000 fine. (Sounds steep and hard to believe to me). I see people commit serious crimes (like agg. assault on a PO) and get off with less than a $500 fine and suspended jail sentence. (But that is Essex ****hole County, where crime is commonplace).

Any motor vehicle can be impounded if found on public, quasi public, or property of another (no permission) if it is uninsured or unregistered.

There is a clause that protects land owners from lawsuits if someone rides on their property without permission, however I wouldn't be surprised in this screwy state if people still try to sue when they hurt themselves and succeed with the suit. It's these people who ruin it for others.

I'm going to check further. I don't suggest being a lawyer out there and mouthing off saying things like, "you can't do that" to a cop. That will only cause more trouble. Also, if you see a patrol car pull into a pit, turn around and go the other way, but if a cop engages in a chase with you, DON'T RUN, cause if you get caught, you will be wearing bracelets and going to jail for eluding.

It wasnt only the traffic it was the 2hrs i wasted before that going back home to get the key for the quad that i forgot. I wound up going out to the pine barrons in manorville on the east end of LI. it was nice cause you were protected from the wind. that day they were 15-25mph.
