What motors would 2.7 liter heads that fit a 99 200hp johnson come off of.

86/87 200 225, part 331490, you want the .700 deep chambers and you want them uncut. jphiil (Joe) or instigator(Gary) or racer( Al Stoker) on here should have or know where to get some for yoy and give you some setup advice. be VERY careful with these motors and compression as they need their fuel or boom.proper setup is key and all of these guys can help you out.

Thats why I really dont want to start changing a bunch of stuff. I want to keep it simple and hope heads will be part of that, i know I need to get reeds, but other than that I figured heads would be a easy mod. I could block off the idle relief openings, but not sure I want to do that right now.

there is also a cooling system modification that goes along with the heads, any of the three guys listed above can walk you through it as weel as provide the parts.it will really wake you motor up. the next step from there is porting the block. closing the plug gap down to .028 or even .020 has given some big gains in rpm.

Really, closing the gap helps? I just put new ones in and gapped them to .30, I think. I didnt think there was much of a difference with the gap. As far as cooling, right now I have the thermostats gutted and running them open, they were stuck open anyways. Not ready to take the powerhead apart yet, maybe one day. Interesting thanks

Would the heads and carbs off a 88 johnson/evinrude 225 fit on my motor? If not carbs are the heads 2.7, and will fit???

88 is a 3.0 and your heads are better. Find a set of 225 carbs from a 96 up engine.
