I put powerhead on my motor last week. I thought i had all gaskets, but didn't have the adapter to mid gasket. I wasn't going down there but i installed upper mounts and while tightening adapter to leg, the adapter popped up about a 1/4" in front. It didn't tear, so i continued and it pulled down as i tightened powerhead and i thought it would be ok. Well, i have water leaking out of top mount area, running forward and down the leg. Like a small steady stream. I tightened bolts and nuts some and slowed it down. I used it this way last weekend for the st johns swamp run. That went ok, as far as i know.

Not ideal but not uncommon. As long as you have sufficient pressure and temp is under control you will probably be fine.
