The post about twins on an STV made me wonder what ever happened to Filter and his V8 Valero. Does anyone know him?

He could help Mr. Twins out. He's probably still kicking himself in the ass.

I hope for the best. He was determined to put that v-8 on! Maybe some of the board got a little tough on him. But you have to realize it was out of true concern. Ive been known to put some crazy hp on a boat or two. 235/v-4/2.4 200 on 16 sidewinder now that was dumb but fun or rather unique. Rick

If that's the reason he left, that's too bad. What wrong with going overboard? That's what it's all about! When someone tells me not to do something, that make me want to do it more than ever!
That is where I got my name from. Everyone (where I live) thought (thinks) I was (am) crazy! 235hp+ on a boat that bare weight is under 500# (being conservative). Maybe I am!:)

I bet you have heard of D. Robrye. ( probrobly spelled it all kinds of wrong) Any way,, my seebold champ boat weighs 411 lbs dry, no batt. I put a 2.4 carb STOCK motor with a home made 15" down and in line 2:1 gear case,,, and oh damn,, I never knew excelleration was quite that nice. I have a 260 I may put on it someday, and see if I can touch 130 ish. Cool boat man!!!

Dwayne Roberie bored and honed my OMC. He also cut the reliefs in the block. Excellent work! I hope he don't get a bad rep for working on an OMC....:o :D :D
And thanks! Nothing like a high horsepower to weight ratio! Sounds like you have a cool rig also. Got any pics?

Ya know what? Through all of this NOBODY has said anything about this person or that person putting on too much power. The concern, whether it was Filter or currently trbocharge or whoever it was in the past, it was always a WEIGHT concern.
Twins..no problem. 300hp...no problem. At least not on a hull that won't break in half from it.
I agree with Rick. Just genuine concern about someone killing themselves in a project that wasn't well thought out.
My$.02 (CDN) so that ain't much

I did not think that is what this thread was about. I though it was wondering where Filter WAS.
The best thing you can do is give advice, if they chose not to abide by it, then so be it.
I have a 300 V8 and toyed with the idea of putting it on my picklefork. Like some one would (could) stop me. LOL!!!!
Fun toying with the idea, or did I just plant the seed???

I followed the Filter thread...and although our concern may have been for his safety, we ended up making him sound like a dumb ass and continued to make fun of him after the fact
95% of scream members are NOT experts, but 100% think we are (me included). No kidding, do any of us really think that twins would have worked…probably not…so what.
How many of us can look back and laugh at the stupid ideas we had (I once spliced fuel hose to patch a brake line).
Just remember...today’s experts were yesterday’s morons.

Reese, I think when someone seeks advice, then argues with it when it's not what he wants to hear, they're asking for a little negative feedback.
I for one, don't necessarily think it's always advantageous to learn from one's own mistakes, but rather to seek those with more experience in a given area and heed their advice. Another logical path is to proceed in a controlled manner, in stages, rather than trying extreme, untried changes all in one step. I suspect that there are a lot of people here who used this regimented type approach to experimentation, rather than seeing how many times they can bounce their head off the wall and live through it.

seek advice and then argue with it...................man is that ever true!!
we lost alot of true knowledgable people here because of that!!
so true so true, that has caused me to get more quiet about stuff, i had some long talks with people and heard some of the past stories about the tech boards on web sites, made me think twice now, and it still happens (off the web site) they ask, you say your thoughts, and immediately........no i think it's this, then why bother to ask my opinion when your already cocked and loaded to say no before i even finish stating my "opinion"????
now i have the "head bob" action going, yep uh huh, oh yeah, uh huh, cool, good deal, sounds good, yep your right or even better yet......change the subject or keep quiet all together :)
seek advice, take in all opinions and follow what best suits what your going through, remember all the opinions given for future use in other problems

So what's the moral of this story?
If some one were to suggest a (in our mind) goofy or dangerous project, do we offer a cautionary word, ONCE and then forget it?
I don't think it would be right just to say yep, yep, yep, but I also see where harping or eventually mocking isn't right either.
