Ok here is the deal, I'm on Yellowbullet and trying to say I have been in a Donzi 38 fter that has been modified and have ran 161 mph and there is a guy saying there is hardly any v bottom boats going over 120 let alone 160 to 170 exspecially cigar boats, Is there any videos of any one going faster then 120 and having a gps in hand in any v-bottom boat? I would like to have a cigar boat one doing the same to if possible. If I was wrong please let me know. Thank you Gary McGruther

I believe fountain holds the record at 176.????? in a full canopy 42! I think he called it Cat Killer.
Go over on offshore only. You'll get your answer over there, and probablly the video also.

Statement marine has a video of one of their boats doing 134mph on gps speedo on their website.
Thats a boat anyone can buy, not a raceboat.

I find it hard to believe the Donzi went 160. The Fountain the are talking about was Rio the Roses. Fountain does have a video of the boat running around 170mph in a poker run. It was called Cat Killer. The boat was a full canopy and had 1700hp motors. Some of the fastest V bottoms mostly run 120 or so. It takes mega hp to achieve speeds in access of 140. not saying it cannot happen but unlikely.

I believe the video of the Fountain is on the Powerboat TV site. It ran in the kilo trials on the Pamlico River at the Fountain factory back door a few years ago. Two way run was 171 average.

There is already a thread on OSO about this guy. There is NO WAY said Donzi went anywhere close to claimed mph. I think it was said to have 5-600 horse. I'll go look for it now.

Theres lots of smaller Vee hulls that run over 130mph. But there only 20ft long with a single outboards. One of these little 20fters does 132 and change with a little old 2.4 on the back but these are just normal v,s not Off Shore boats. Some of these little clamp on SOB Vees do 121+ in the quarter. Knowone really knows how fast they would go if you put a wheel bigger than a 26 pitch on one? Some say over 140?? But no one has tryed that yet. Theres been quite a few documented 130+ runs though. Theres a vid on hear of a 129MPH run one way and 132 on another run that missed getting recorded but was timed and messured. Theres also a little bayliner that does over 120 also. That vid is on hear also.

The Cat Killer and the boat that set the kilo record are two different boats. Cat Killer is a 47' and the kilo boat was a 42'. Both boats had Sterling 1550's in them. The kilo boat had a 2 way average of 171 mph, with a one way pass of 177 with more left in the throttles. The Cat Killer has been rumored to have hit over 180 in a race. A friend of mine was able to throttle it in Key west a couple of years ago. He said mid 150's was easy and coming close to pushing the boat.
Fountain has had a couple of the poker run boats with 1075 mercs in them run over 140, so has outerlimits. Statement's first v-bottom ran 139 with a pair of 1075's. I think Outerlimits had a boat with 1200s hit 139 in the loto shoot out which is a 1 mile run with a 40 mph starting speed.
Here is another video of the Kilo http://www.fountainpowerboats.com/sport_vids5.asp
