I had my boat out today. I shut the motor off to check out a fishing area. when I tried to start it back it wouldn't start and the fuel pump didn't buzz. I took the small bolt of the top round part where the valve is and checked the the small screen filter (looked OK) I blew it out and put it back on. turned the key on and the pump started buzzing and the motor cranked right up. ran around and stopped and started for a couple hours with no problem. just wondering what happened.

The ECU turns the pump on and off to regulate the fuel pressure (not my favorite system). You may have had a vapor lock holding pressure and when you pressed in the valve it released the pressure allowing the pump to come on. Could have been a sonsor, clocgged orofice to the pressure sensor or a multitude of things. My bet is the pump is about to go out??
