I have an oppurtunity to get at boat for $600 from a friend. He says that it is a daytona sprint 21' with a 235 evinrude outboard. I have not been able to find any info on this boat online. Does anyone know what it is? Is it a good fast boat. I will be mainly using it in key west and Miami. The motor runs but leaks oil from the lower unit. The carpet has been removed as well as the seats. I will be able to post pics hopefully tommorrow. Does it seem worth it to buy it? Also has brand new steering and a very decent trailer. The boat has two front bucket seats and a rear bench. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. By the way I am new to boating and this would be my first boat.

a 21 daytona with a running motor and good trailer for 600...sounds good to me...the sprint part is throwing me off though...Eliminator also made a sprint (its a totally different boat than the daytona) the 21 daytonas are pretty fast with big power on them...it all depends on if youre willing to do the work to make it into a functional boat...welcome to scream and fly

If it is a Daytona, call me--I own one, love it, and as small outboards go it will do better than most in Biscayne Bay.

Those are the pics that I have for now. I believe that it is a 21' eliminator sprint. How hard is it to either find or make seats for the interior? It also has dual fuel tanks.

Great score for 600 bucks! You can buy seats from places like Overtons.com or have custom stuff made, though the custom stuff gets expensive real quick.

Did eliminator make a sprint with an outboard or was this boat converted from a jet boat to an outboard. Is this a good boat to run in the ocean?

I guess running in the ocean all depends on the type of conditions you have, here in NC it would be a death wish lol

im guessing its either a sprint or a liberty....call eliminator with the hull id number and they will be able to get you the year and modle

after looking i think you can rule the liberty out

So does that mean that it was a jet boat that was converted to outboard or did they come that way as well? I have not seen the boat in person in over a year but those pictures are from today. I will have it in two weeks so I can give it a thorough inspection and find out more about it. I originally wanted get an action but this deal kind of fell in my lap. Does this hull perform as well?

Whatever the boat I get was going to be a project but would this be too much of a headache. Money and time wise? Keep looking or try and revive this one? And how is the performance and reliability of the evinrude 235?

All help and info is greatly appreciated as I am a noob to boats although I have been building cars and trucks and atv's and three wheelers all my life so I am confident that I can do almost all necessary work myself.

it depends on what "revive" means to you if you just want to make it lakeable then it wouldnt be to bad as long as the hull is solid...now if you want to restore it to pristiene condition then youre in for a long, expensive but rewarding process...what it really boils down to is how much do you really like that particular boat...as far as the 235 gos they perform alright...they are limited as far as mods you can do to them compared to the loopers but not a big deal unless you want huge power

is the boat a flat bottom or a v hull?

flat bottoms ride rough unless its glass water conditions...if it were me id find that action...on the other hand if that 235 is in decent running condition then its worth the 600 its self...have fun and keep us posted

The price is great--but no way you will be able to use that boat anywhere near Miami except at 6 am on a dead flat weekday. I grew up with flatbottoms, but they just aren't practical where there is any wave condition.
As to "is it worth it"--if the hull is sound, probably so so long as you know the limitations of the flatty. Treating you as a newbie, you need to understand that most hulls were built with balsa core encased between outer and inner layers of fibreglass. Many if not most older balsa core hulls have had water get into the balsa and it has rotted. They are structurally unsound and very dangerous at speed, and the job to "recore" is rewarding on the right boat but definitely a labor of love, emphasis on labor. I am not even sure now if your Daytona Sprint is an Eliminator product (2.5 Stoker probably knows), but I can tell you that my '86 Eliminator was rock solid. My son is recoring my (soon to be his) '78 Hydrostream. If the core is bad, coupled with the fact that it is a flatty, I would not bother to try to rebuild it--for $600, you have a motor, hardware and a trailer--go find a V-hull that does not need recoring and rig it.
