A friend of mine has one of these little motors that he hasnt run in 10 years. Was running when he saved it.....We all know how that story goes. Well cleaned the carbs, new plugs and all but it doesnt have fire on either cylinder. Pulled the flywheel, cleaned all contacts and magnets. Coils look ok, condensors too. Cleaned and set the points at .020 as specified on the flywheel but still no spark. Any ideas before we start changing parts?

Worked on them old motors many times. Coils "might" look good, but bet junk. Replace both. Available Ebay, if no old J/Rude dealer near ya..

I agree with Rob get one and see if you have spark. I have a 1956 10 johnson changed out all the electronics through ebay. Rick

I will 3rd the coils being bad. There are replacements sold by some AOMCI guys at reasonable price, probably the eBay seller
Fairwinds in Maryland probably has them if no one near you does http://www.fairwindsmarina.com/

Turned out the points had some crud on them stopping them from making contact. Cleaned them again and now has good spark. But have another problem, fuel pump is shot. Checked ebay, dont have too much and the dealer wants $105 for one. Anyone know a good source?
