Lost another racer. Annual races here, 15 miles down the road from me. Caught on vid. Barrel rolled, Had cockpit air, but guess the boat destructed. Might be a 15 second commercial first. Go full screen with the vid. (Gotta love the Crackerbox racers too!) And the news kept saying a Hydro, but is was a flatbottom with a capsule.

Ya know, the more I look at the vid, and I KNOW that lake well, the race days are solid no other boat wakes but the racers. I really doubt him hitting a 2 inch wake, boat in front, caused it. Thinking he lost a rudder, or a blade. Dude was a very experienced racer, SUPER machinist, well known the boat crowd here, and in the prime of life at 32 years old. Sad when we lose another, but the "envelope", always needs pushing. We all can learn from stuff like this tragic loss of life. Wake up morning, figure the day will be a great day of racing, races over, hit the pits and the BBQ, and BS the day twilight, the campfire. Saw 47 "lookers here", and no replies? This guy was looking for a "Unlimited Hydro" ride some day, and the ULH will be here Seattle soon, Seafair. And the Blue Angels. ALWAYS .."the best, and think oldest too"...be safe, but crazy as ya can get .."wet"!
sad my thoughts and prayers go out for all and it effects us all when anyone dies in any kind of boating accident

Thanks man, as we all are a very "tight knit" boat crowd here. We all learn more when something happens. Thing is, this accident, is pretty well..WTF happened? Have word some the first responders..divers.., and said the boat simple broke apart after barrel rolling, nothing left surface but debris. Response divers said in the churned up water, visibility was 2 feet as a shallow lake. Took over a minute to find the body, and took ten minutes to find what left of the hull. But as we all want, the races went on, after, as thats the way to continue on life. But still a sad day yesterday. And don't think we don't hold our "Hydro" Racing here dear to heat. Chip Hanaur..(sp?)..drove Miss Budweiser, here, with Bernie Little. He lives in Squim, on the coast Straights Juan De Fuca, WA, not far north of me, and a SUPER guy! And now he does the announce "booth", the "Stan Sayers" pits, for Seafair here, and Seattle ..LOVES THE HYDRO'S AND THE "BLUES"..(Angels)..week after next think?..forgot for the moment....rock hard and wet, be well...all...
