What Model Motor Is My Outboard REALLY...

The cowlings on my motor say that it is a 150 XR2. Recently, however, when looking up parts for it using the serial number, it is SUGGESTED that it actually is a standard 2L 1987 150. How can I know for sure? I've searched the internet and have not found a definitive answer. The serial # on the motor clamp is OB143309. I'd love to find out specifics of this motor, too; when it left the factory, where it went, when it was sold, etc. Thanks for any help.

the build date is stamped at the bottom of Number 2 cylinder (on the outside) close to where case halves bolt together like 5/18/86 which equals month /day/ year
