Does anyone know why my Merc 2003 200xs hesitates and sputters on the initial acceleration ? This problem happened first a few weeks ago after my motor was trimmed up on the water but went away after I turned the key off and restarted . Over the weekend my boat was on plane about 30mph and the motor began to hesitate like it wasn't getting enough fuel . The bulb on the fuel line was firm while the motor was running. The motor spins but does not turn over now . :(

Welcom aboard datsen...!

Don't know much about them Opti's myself, but hopefully sumbody chimes in and helps ya out !

Have you checked your water seperator?

And not sure on your meaning - " motor spins but does not turn over now" ? ? You saying it turns over but not fires off ? ?

Russ, The motor normally starts within 2 to 3 seconds of turning the key . The motor now does not fire . Do you know if a small obstruction or blockage to the compressor will cause this problem ? I noticed the grommet that secures to flywheel cover was inside the channel that leads from the air intake filter to the compressor . This motor is also on a 2003 Ally xb-2003.

Don't know Bud,,, sorry. I am not anywhere near familier with the Opti's, other than their Black,, :)

I have not heard many, if any issues with the 200XS on here, they have been tight motors as far as I have seen.

Come On Guys,,, one of you Opti heads Gotta be able to help this man out!
