Motor is a 1986 2.4 bridgeport Mod vp. Recently rebuilt and electronics updated. Original stator. Symptoms are hard starting. This condition existed before the rebuild. Sometimes starts right up and other times is very hard to start. A lot of firing with kicking the starter out. Checked the stator and found that the two red wires are okay and the blue/white wire is okay although the resistance is lower than specs. The other blue wire is an open circuit.
I understand the blue wires support the low speed windings and the red support the high speed. Since the motor runs perfectly at speed, I suspect the stator is the problem.
My question is why does the motor even run at low speeds (once it starts) if one bank is not getting spark?
