has anyone purchased and used the velocity stack for v6 merc?? is it worth the money??
i have a 1985 merc blackmax 200 w/ electric fuel pump, reeds, nose cone...ect has the stock carb cover and wondering if a velocity stack would help??

there are a lot of threads on this but from what i recall, they look cool and not much else for the average user. plus, you will have to rejet your carbs going from the airbox to the stacks.

It is only for the cool factor, they do not help any. You will need to rejet to be safe.
I made these for my 245's out of old style back plates from air boxes they seem to work a little better because they have the ventury tube opening. No big deal though :nonod::D

Yes sir!! Got the old jig saw out, a little cleanup grinding and finished them with a nice heavy paint job :thumbsup:

They do have the "cool" factor but the only reason I use stacks are for clearance issues. I have 2 sets on the way from Bob's. I build a 1" space out of HDPE plastic install them on some of my builds and have to use stacks to clear the cowling. The full air box won't fit. I have never seen a noticable gain from stacks and have used a ton of them. Just my .02
