Im trying to figure out why Ive lost rpm's. Its on a 88 bullet 19v 12" jack plate the motor was rebuilt 5 years ago @ nichols marine previous owner stated it had new reeds installed at that time. When I bought it It would turn a 28 pitch non through hub prop over 7000 but I hardly did it cause over 70000 scares me. I switched to a 26 High 5, I dont make alot of long runs fishing and could turn it 6500-6800 with plenty to spare and better on fuel. Then I noticed having to push it more last year and now wot gets me 6300 with the 26 and about 5600 with the 28. I have replaced the coils with used ones and the spark seems strong I replaced the stator and trigger used from a 150hp because it was surging at idle and that fixed the surge but only came up in idle from adjustment that I made to keep it running by about 200 and still never gained any top end so I replaced the red fly wheel with one from the 150hp idle gained another 200 but no top end 125# even all cylinders new plugs and an electric fuel pump. I cant find the timing advance module its not on the front like the 150, is it part of the boxes which have also been replaced I would like to check timing but cant find modules to remove wires. I have done all this thanks to researching post from all you gurus on scream and fly. Also It doesnt surge or anything at wot and sounds good but have noticed that it seems less responsive overall. If the timing is on I plan to replace all fuel lines and look at carbs if you guys think thats the next step thank for all the help.

Is the wiring harness from the stator preventing the advance mechanism from being able to rotate?

The harness is loose and free.
