Anyone know the easiest way to repair stripped stator threads? Anyone know the thread specs so I can look for a tap? Motor is a promax. Looks like there is room to move the Allen bolt over a hole in the stator and drill and tap the top mounting plate. Any better option?

Just pick up some new holes and tap the plate . 10 - 32 thread I believe ..will check in a bit at the shop . Buy a brand new tap and pilot bit , start out with a smaller bit than the pilot bit ( # 25 ) and make sure you are drilling straight , no margin for error .

Heli-coil the original holes!!!!!!!!!
If you are only changing one or two, do as Tom said. If you need to change them all you might want to look for a new cap as eight holes in that little ledge makes it a bit weak and prone to cracking. Be sure to use Loctite.

@Tom I looked up the 10/32 tap says #21 bit or 5/32 bit. Hopefully I can find one at the local hardware. Thanks I will let you guys know how I make out. Thanks

Heli Coils work great. I have done it on several caps. 10-32 Heli-Coil.

I used metric can't remeber the size off hand but they were just a hair bigger.

The reason I suggested the # 25 is that it's a bit smaller than the #21 and if your drilling is not perfect it will help you get a normal thread depth. As Billy and Tom have mentioned the Helicoil is a great fix but a bit more expensive than just tapping new holes . Be sure to carefully de - burr any raised portion of thread after tapping ,by hand with the proper diameter countersink or just a 1/4 " drill bit BY HAND to keep the stator flush with the surface .

Drilled and tapped 3 new holes yesterday. Took all of about 15 min to repair. Put some blue loctite insurance on them. Thanks fellas

Another trick is to use a 3/16" brad point bit to mark new holes. Just fits the stator hole, and spinning it with your fingers puts a nice center mark in the rim.

True , true . Everyone should have a set of Enco Transfer Punches at 10.00 a set.
Glad it worked out !
I have a set of 28 transfer punches that range from 3/32" up to 1/2". Could not imagine fabrication without them.
