Has anyone tried one of these on a lightweight STV, Mirage etc???? How do they perform if so?? I know they are only available certain times of the year.... Thanks

I don't know how they run but they are 70 lbs lighter than the other optimax xs engines and look cool!
I like to know what the cost.

I'm not exactly sure, but think I was told 18k... Give or take a few.. But im not exactly sure.. But the part that sucks is, Merc won't start another run of them till the fall or somewhere in that timeframe. So u have to get ur name on the list if you want one!

20 Grand and no Warranty, would love one on the back of my Allison, but without a warranty i'll have to pass.

they are around 18,000 give or take they are made in the fall and early winter the reason there is no warrenty and they are only made once a ear is they are sold as pure race engines thanks to the EPA:mad: other wise fred k would love to have these as production motors send e-mail to brunswick:( and let them know how mad:mad: you are they shut merc racing down to a crawl:o
these are nice motors i saw them at a tunnel boat race fast and very good on fuel:thumbsup:

I know its alot of money to put out without a little reassurance but NO race engine comes with a warranty. Like the old saying goes "you gotta pay to play". Some things you just have to deal with or without if thats what you really want.

Looks like it would be a very dependable high performance motor that is great on fuel..They are a little on the pricey side though, but I guess that's all us die hard Merc guys have to look forward to in the future:mad:

What if a guy ordered a new boat from a dealer and wanted the ROS? Would the dealership have more availability than someone off the street?

That is an interesting question, maybe Lee Sanderson will see this and offer some insights on that. I'm not sure ordering a boat would help you secure a 200XS ROS more easily though.

Right on, perhaps Lee would like to share his thoughts.

Is there a difference in the 200 xs and the 200 xs ros other than the mid?

there are only 2 models 200xs ros 15" and the 200xsst 12" the ros has a 7000rpm rev limitor and sst has a 8000 rpm rev limitor the ordering deadline is nov 1

Are the SST 8,000rpm computers available for purchase through Mercury Racing? And are there any differences other than the rev limiter? I've had both the 7,700rpm 2.5/280 Sport and 8,200 2.5/280 ROS and everything seemed identical except for the extra 500rpm (and the 15" mid, of course). Since there is no warranty anyway, I would think Mercury wouldn't care if the owner of the ROS installed an SST computer. Also, I'm taking it that these motors are not "low emissions" certified engines.

What does the EPA have to do with it?
These are low-emissions engines...

These are low-emissions engines...Ur right Markus... That mota sure would be sweet for a river riding motor or a every day hit the lake mota!! Don't see why you couldn't use the ECU from the SST 200... Wonder if the port work is different though.. And maybe the direct injection system...
