Hey all,
I have a 1990 9.9 electric start Johnson. The key switch and wiring to the switch is missing. I would like to jump the ignition to the run position and pull start the motor for a potential buyer.
The plug coming out of the motor has six leads with the following wires attched to the plug:

black
grey
black/yellow (stripe)
yellow/red (stripe)
purple/white
red
Does any body know which ones I should jumper to turn the ignition on?
I can pull start the motor.
Thanks,
Dave

If the ignition switch is not hooked up and blk/yellow not touching a ground motor will start. To stop motor ground blk/yellow. Be careful blk/yellow has hi voltage when running!

Thanks!
We will try it out tomorrow.

That works good, motor starts rite up. I am jumping directly to the starter hot wire. Witch wires will crank the starter thru the plug?
