On the tube west coast 9/noon., so still time to go out and play here. Pretty damn decent race, don't know about that "side by side" restarts, but the ending was fantastic!

Forgot laps left, but up to let the dog out, came back, Danica is running lead? Was something like 7th! Missed that. But without gas to finish, means little.

But the final lap thought a sure win for the rookie, and the National Guard car, (how fitting for a Memorial day race, and Indy at 100 years)...but slammed a wall turn 3 with the checked flag in sight, came in second on 3 wheels! Called racing I guess!

yep,but Weldon was a good 2nd choice, since he has no sponsor, etc. and certainly drove a good race.Danica 10th,not too bad!

Yep...the rookie lost it a little too exited, last 3rd turn. He will learn as the race aint over, until its OVER! And Weldon, knows the ropes to win, and did. Good for him too!

My biggest concern was the "Danica".."Go Daddy" commercial, her in long hair, old school 70's yellow hairband on, bending over a ride hood up, in those VERY tight shorts! Then the "next commercial for her was to.. "were this?" Took awhile for the "wood" to return!...(might be a old fart at 61, but the day I stop looking a young girls, shoot me, I'm done life!:p;):D:thumbsup:

YEP! Weldon was far enuf back, all he had to do was hold speed, and the line. Gonna maybe say the spotter didn't do his job.

Depending on what that spotter told him, I would think he's (spotter)gonna be lookin' for a new job. Later, Dave

heres the vid. Watch about 40 seconds in. Weldon WAY behind. The damn spotter should have told him JUST FOLLOW through the corner, pass on the straight to the final, but he had the win by just coasting through.

I was thinking the same thing, The kid is a rookie, less than 1/2 lap away from an Indy 500 Win  you gotta tell him to just let that guy go= he means NOTHING but a photo op :nonod::nonod::nonod:

Thens there's the 600 finish , I remember a certain crew chief slipping on air live years back that said- We went for it- WTF ;)

Not sure how its the spotters job to tell the guy not to take a crap angle like that into a corner? Looks to me like the kid got a little too excited with the bricks within eyesight, and didnt guage the lapped guys position going into the corner. I could listen to those cars go around all day, should make a playlist on the ipod so I can hear it on the way to work every day.

You NEED to go to Indy at least once. When I lived Chicago suburbs, use to go, as hour some south. DAMN what a party night before! MASSIVE cut grass "acreage", outside town, square miles of party spots. Vans packed up supplies, So MANY purpose built old party buses, scaffolding ready to go, EVERY one had a campfire going, all BYOB/wood, zero rules (then, dunno today, been 20 years)

So we party our azz off till dawn, and at 5am, they say., "Lets GO!"..and its get in line too under the tunnel to the infield, and we always did set up at turn 3..(wish I would have been there this year!) Get set up, still VERY hungover, crash, and the noise woke ya up...(me anyway!)

The race itself, from the party crowd infield, is most.., hard to explain. Ya go up to the fence, turn 3, or someone a scaffold, to see anything. Yep, a LOT of noise, but its more like watching the end of Nitro cars a NHRA race, the stripe, BUT STILL ON THE GAS! See then come into the corner, and simple GONE...Freaking Gokarts on Steroids! Suckers haul azz!
Race over, and time to get the hell out. EVERY ROAD OUT INDY IS ONE WAY OUT! Go back home, and catch repeat race on the tube..see what we heard, but missed. Gotta love that crowd there...they don't call it the "Great American Race", for nothing. and have seen, and stepped on those famous "bricks" (track pretty well open now, after, trying to get the masses out!) Anyone EVER get a chance at Indy, DO IT!

One year going down to a Goodguys event, we got to drive on the track, that was quite an experience. Theres some amazing history there... I can only imagine the party scene during race week.

The Goodguys toss a great event! Don't they toss a Nostalgic "Funny car" event too? Pretty sure, west coast anyway. I simple dig the old "Funny rides!" They show up here, Seattle, at least once a year, but the major is south, in SoCal. And my brother (in Ca) races "Vintage", (56 Alfa), done all the tracks US..(money), and the Vintage races here, 4th July, next week in Portland OR, the Thompson Classic. DAMN, so great old rides, old Indy cars to sit in, IF YA CAN..(all lay downs)..bitch to get out! Let me find a link the Vintage here..

Link the Vintage races out here...poke around, check out the nostalgic old rides, still rubber streak up the road courses! My Bro, had a 57 Morgan, but simple, the "wall won", almost destroyed. Sold remains to another, and now back in "service". Restored back orig.
