on 86-89 200s when putting the crankcase sealing rings facing up ive heard not to line them all the same can someone please explain or does it matter ? thanks

All up to set crank then drip oil down through split spin, then every other one down. That works for me.

I would think it would be like lining up piston ring gaps the same.

on the top pinned pistons and rings the gaps line up. i guess it doesnt matter.

Dont know where i heard it but someone said not to line them up starting a new project and want to be sure the omc manual is not specific they just say to have them all up thanks for the help

it doesn't matter like it does on a piston, the gap will leak a little no matter what position it's in. On a piston, they stagger it so the compression doesn't have a straight path to blow by..........
