Evinrude 75 hp Hustler

Does anyone have any suggestions for improving the performance of a 75 hp Evinrude Hustler. Its a 1975, im just curious about it.

Reeds, cut the head, and I took a bunch off the crankcase front. Helped a bunch on the bottom end but it still is a no idling turd with a 24 raker out of the hole. The best thing I did to improve it was replace it with a 1500xs :D.
