We have a house rented on the Suwannee at Fanning for Friday, Sat, Sun and Monday. Looking forward to everything except the high gas prices.....

I am trying to figure out where I want to go run this weekend. We might hit the suwannee.

There is nothing better than the Suwannee if you don't mind dodging a sturgeon or two.

The best place to stay is in Chiefland Florida, either at the Days Inn [about$75] or the Best Western [about $95]. From Chiefland, you go North to Fanning Springs and cross the bridge. As soon as you cross the Bridge at Fanning, take a left on the first small dirt road and the nice boat ramp is a block on your left. Fanning Springs is across the river from the ramp. If you go North, you will pass the almost hidden Rock Bluff on the right after the next bridge. 18-20 miles later you will see the river split with the Santa Fe going to the right. The Santa Fe is nice with a lot of boats anchored at Ichatucknee Springs. Be careful of the no wake zones on the Santa Fe. There are sand beaches everywhere to stop and lots of almost hidden springs to stop and swim in. Do not go very far north of Branford unless you want to go rock climbing in your boat. There are few sand bars on the Suwannee but they are all on the East side of the river. The Gulf is about 25 miles to the south from the boat ramp. Keep an eye out for the jumping Sturgeons.
You already know what my three Honda PWCs look like and I will have my Platnum/Blue Allison Grandsport there too. We spend most of our time riding instead of on the beaches/Springs socializing.
A good GPS with an accurate built in map is really helpful in finding the springs. I have a Gamin 168 sounder.
There is no 93 octane on the river, only some 87 on the Santa Fe so carry plenty of spare fuel.
