Anybody ever have there water press gauge stick. I've almost overheated the motor watching the gauge. It sticks at about 15 psi, its brand a new Autometer gauge. Worked fine for the first few times out but now been sticking. I know water goes in the back will the salt cause this? Is there something I can put in the small hole to keep water out, like a drop of oil or something? The water just sits in the tube.

take line off gauge and off motor, put the line back by motor in clean clear bottle or something and blow at gauge end to see if you pushed crap up in line and to make sure line is free. Yes it's possible for new gauge to screw up. I have had my boat in salt water a few time's and never a problem. part of my winterizing i take the water presure line off at gauge and motor to blow any water out that might be laying in it.

Water press gauges work like speedo's,on air press. If you have water at gauge you have a leak or bad gauge,at no time should you have water in or at gauge.

Thats news to me, I'll empty the line out and see what happens. I thought the line should have water in it.

It is possible for the air supply line to the gauge to fill with water at the gauge if the hose does not fit tightly over the barb of the gauge. Usually you don't need one, but you may find that a small clamp placed over the hose and hose barb at the gauge will cure your problem.

No hose barb, its a compression fitting, I'll check into it to see if there are any leaks.

With a compression fitting on plastic line it is real easy to overtighten and crush the tube. Get a couple new brass compression rings and be real carefull when you tighten the nuts.

I blow my lines every year with pressurized air, somehow there is always a bunch of crap that comes out. This can and will cause a gauge to seem stuck while it in reality is only doing what it is designed to do, read the airpressure in the incomming hose.

I havent had a chance to mess with it, but I'll make sure to blow it out real good.

Got it fixed, there was crap in the tiny hole that reads the press, i cleaned it out and it sould work fine now. I'll test it in the next few days.
