My name is Carl,I am posting this asking for any help in finding my Euro. It was stolen from Hidden Harbour Marine sometimes from Friday at 7:30pm 4-29-2011 to Sunday 11:30am 4-1-2011. This is a dry storage area that has survelance cameras but the last three months the cameras were not operating. I last saw my boat Friday while workig on one of my other boats. Sunday when I went back it was gone. Filed a report with the police. There are a few places with survelance cameras pinting out to the street where they would have had to go to leave the marina. Police are talking to the business owners and asking to review the tapes. I also am inquiring at other business's that have cameras on US1 north and south from the intersection of US1 and King Street asking them to help. I am offering a $2,000 reward in the recoveryof the boat and conviction of persons involved (no questions asked). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Funny this is I have taken thousands of picts at different events and finding picts of the Euro was hard. The specs are as listed
1995 STV Euro Fl reg num. FL8166MM HIN no. SoD00619D595

origional seats with cold pressed Summford emblems, (seats are white with red trim)

Camera systems are cheep..I have mine on camera and would love if some scumbag tried to steel something again. If the dogs don't get em or the lead misses I will know what they look like and will be on the hunt and never give up..I just hope the owner finds em before the law does ...everyone should write down there serial numbers down off there blocks and stamp a number on the lower units when you go to do a water pump...I am sure people would not mind showing there numbers at an event if they had nothing to hide ;-) had to be someone that knew the boat was there and what ya had...really sucks.

I am just glad you are not in Duval County. The St Johns/Flagler cops are much much better at solving thefts like this. You boat is so pretty that I can understand why they stole it. Maybe they only want the engine and you will get it back soon [like many stolen recently].

Lo-Jack is ok, but these days you can put a GPS location tracking system in your boat for less than $100.- you can get them small enough to put inside of the battery switch. Most of these systems are made for used car dealers that do there own financing. You can also set them up so the starter won't work. (You could also wire them up to kill the electric fuel pump)

First off I would like to say thank you to all who have in their own way tried helping simply by passing this info. on to their friends, associates and other sights. I would like to also apologize for not passing on any info. since this has happened and for this post for being so long. This is what I have been going through since I found the boat missing.
Let me start by saying that this happened ONE BLOCK away from St. Augustine police Department. After speaking with the police and filing the report, in the report the officer states that he noticed TWO security cameras in the back of an establishment (not naming the business now) pointing towards the storage area and the other in a similar direction. In the report the officer said that they were going to contact the establishment and ask to view the tapes.. I followed up with the establishment every day and the police never contacted them. I made flyers offering the same reward as I posted on here. I asked for a copy of the tapes but the owner said due to liability and privacy for their customers they couldn’t. I followed up with the police and two different detectives said they would follow up and never did. The same goes for four other establishments that agreed to give copies of their security tapes to the police. I offered to pay compensation for viewing the tapes and or making copies at any cost or turning them over to the police.
I have talked to numerous establishments offering the same thing and others were not willing to help due to their own reason of retaliation or simply it would take them to long to either view of make a copy or their system is on a two or three day loop. I spoke with the Sgt. Detective and told him of what I was doing and also told him that I am putting the onus on HIM to collect the possible evidence that I have come up with. Me asking how the police treat stolen vehicles the Sgt. Showed me how the report goes out nation wide physically showed me. I then asked him to let me show HIM a forum that I personally posted a similar report (showed him the post I started here on screamandfly. I read every post to him and pointed out how many hits (times people have viewed the post) and counted how many replies about the stolen boat there was. He was sort of in amazement (or maybe looked that way for appease me). I looked at him and asked, “How many replies have the St. Augustine police dept had”. Pointing out how networking can assist anyone in many ways. Also pointed out that some of the persons in the post I know, some know of me and simply most I have never met but we all share in a common interest.
Today, two of the establishments offered to provide me with copies of their tapes FREE GRATUS!! They apologized for the police and I signed a waver that I would give the police a copy and have one for myself to view. One of the two establishment’s system was actually recommended by the police. The other establishment’s IT tech made it a point to mark the area of the recording of a vehicle he saw while skipping through the tape. I am making copies now along with pictures I took while the police were there taking the report of where the boat was, tire tracks, cut locks on my boat and foot prints and trailer tire tracks leading out in the grass and sand where the fence was cut where the person or persons physically pulled the boat out of the yard. I will give this to the police with another note stating that I will be following up with them to see their results.
I have spent X amount of dollars of my own money obtaining possible data for the police. This is simply my experience with dealing with stolen property and I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. Have I gone a little overboard, well some may say yes and some may offer other avenues of research. I have done what I can (for now) and now it is time to make my tax dollars work for me.
Points I would like to make about the EURO. Some have brought it up in e-mails. Besides the pictures of the Euro’s dash, original interior, console with I-pod docking station stero and old school toggle switches and led lights. The boat for a Euro has a ski bottom. The actual moldes were destroyed (when I am not sure) and no other Euro will be manufactured with a ski bottom. Every serial number on the boat, raido, GPS spedo ect. Including the power head, mid and sportmaster lower I have documented with pictures ( offered this to the police also). Even the ECU I have the DDT printout as of last trip to the Suawnnee. All I am trying to say that we all know unique features of our boat and am simply pointing out some of mine in case someone happens to notice.
There is a lot I have left out but I suppose I have vented enough. Thank you all very much from Wendy and myself for your support and patience in an update. I will be out of town on business next week and some that know me this is one project I can talk about. Going to an air force base to perform a weapons and guidance alignment on an air force trainer. My usual comment is working on a shhhhhhhhh project lol. Again, thank you and best wishes to all.

P.S. Looking for an STV Euro that fits the tonneau cover I still have

It is unfortunate, the police do not really care about stolen things, (it's just a financial loss in thier eyes) Now if you told them there was a body in it, you would get different response.
I hope you are able to recover your boat. I would be gutted if mine was stolen....

I have filed a lawsuit against the Flagler County Sherrif dept. Those guys are the dumbest, most useless, hillbillies I have ever dealt with and the sole reason I moved out of there. I hope you find your boat, but with that story I would take it one step further and sue the department for not doing what they are there to do. More than likely you will get enough $$$ to buy another 10 STV's...

I appreciate the thought there but I can not at this time name any establishment helping or not. What really sucks is Monday I am going out of town on business and will be out of pocket to follow up with a few things. Some of the establishment's systems are on either a 3-day to 14-day loop, meaning that after the system has reached the end it starts recording over the previous recording. I have asked the people to back their tapes up giving time for the police to contact them. I gave a lot of thought before I posted and up date and actually removed a lot of what I was going to post. There is a question I would love to post on here as far as for help but do not want to show my hand just yet in case the person or persons are following this post and I would really hate to think that also.
I have mentioned it before and I will continue to thank all who have expressed concern, made comments as to what they would do if they actually caught the thievs and suggestions and ideas on what to do. It was mentioned that they hope I have a good attorney. FACT is I have two. One who has been with the family, grandfather, father and now son and extreamly diligent thurough. I also have a attorney that is for the better word challenges the law to no extent and definatly thinks outside the box. One thing is his box has more than four sides. I do know better to take actions myself (god not that wouldn't want to) the only water I would see would be in the jail shower and I am in no way going there lol.
I will keep everyone posted as I have more info. I would like to thank Greg for putting this post at the top. Spoke with him and while I was concerned about taking up so much of his time he asked simply what he could do to help. I just said he already did for supporting the sight and giving everyone a great networking capibility. He is definatly a class act.

We get the same slack attitude here in NZ from our police. Property claim, well you will have insurance, that's what insurance is for. Becomes very low priority. If you are a person who gets off there butt and makes something of there life you are just setting yourself up for others who deem it their right to steal from you rather than work for their rewards in life.

You would think they must for sure be put in a container and shipped overseas. Looks like if they stayed in the states somebody from S/F would see them at some point.
A friend of mine had a XKE Jag stolen in California. He parked it on the street at his brothers house and took a two hour nap. When the cops showed up they told him to forget it because in two hours it had been repainted the serial #'s changed and delivered to it's new owner.

I agree you should sue the police department for not doing their jobs. I'm sure there are police officers on here that will probably diasgree but guys they are sworn to protect & serve and this is a clear case of failing to do that. I have found that the police usually assume that the insurance company will pay for the boat well if the police would do their job then the insurance company wouldn't be out the money which would help REDUCE insurance rates and B/S trying to insure a boat. Sorry to sound negative about law enforcement but the facts seem that this deprtment is in bad need of re-structure. We ARE looking in our area for the boat & if located the po po WILL be notified & expected to do their job. Good Luck in finding it. Jimmy

Same experience with me a few years back when my V-King was stolen. Ontario Provincial Police were useless and openly aggressive towards me when I pushed them to do their jobs.
Good news was I got my boat back a year or so after it was taken - no thanks to the cops.. John Spaeth found it at a Marina as it was getting fixed. They thief had blown the engine up. karma is a beyotch.
Good to hear you got your boat back. Please tell me you sued the police department for loss of time with the boat, your family, lost income, and $$$ you put in to the search.

You'd be surprised where they wind up...I saw a yellow Talon with Michigan registration numbers sitting right on the main drag in Puerto Vallarta last year, a couple miles from the airport. Could have been legit since half of the cars down there have expired US plates on them, but makes one wonder. One thing for sure, not worth going there and trying to get it back even if someone can identify it. Even if you got it back without getting stabbed, you'd never be able to drive down there, hitch it up, and make it to the Texas border without getting ambushed.
Sorry to hear about the boat,Ill keep an eye out.....

What is is with Florida stealing boats?? Somewhere in that state lies my Switzer 20' Wing. At the time it was a faded Tourquis green color. I am sure the two Twister 1's are long since gone. Rather than see the person go to jail, I would probably have to get a contract out on them as well. (half kidding) I have repeatedly asked for it back....only a few left in the world. There are people that I am sure have seen it and are coving for the guy. I still have items off of it that can be traced to that boat and that boat only, also, the original bill of sale from Pete DeLachner, so I am just holding on...waiting to examine the next one that I walk up to, and if my parts match it, god help that person...haha....hope ya get that boat back...make sure the Florida Parks & Wildlife are in the loop...gus in Texas

Carl,
Sounds like you have done many things, I have one more suggestion. Go to your local newspaper or even a National paper and tell them the story. Your boat being so unique and with a 280 the value should be much more then most cars. $40 to 50 K. Tell them how poor the police have responded to your requests.
Be sure to inform the Cops know you are going to the paper big time. Sometimes just the threat of going to the newspaper helps the police see the light and get somebody on it. The paper should play this up and with the exposure you have on this web site the better. News Papers like this type of story especially with a reward.
This whole thing sounds like a ring of thieves taking boats South into Mexico. Maybe the US customs have seen it down in Southern Texas. Who knows but put nothing past bad people who steel.
Good luck and it really does suck.
Cheers
Roger

God works in his ways and good things happen to good people.
I'm sure good things will happen to you .
And we all hope bad things will happen to the people that stoled that boat. Maybe they are in Mexico without heads. We can only hope.
I'm in NY and will allways keep an eye out.

Well it has been 1yr and 4 months since my STV EURO was stolen from St. Augustine Fl. 5-1-2011. The Ocala police found my boat ½ mile behind Booster Stadium in Ocala along the power lines. Fire dept. got a call at 10pm 8-22-2012 about the fire and was dispatched to put out the fire which was 200 yards from a retirement home subdivision. The boat had been striped of everything except the hull. Things that were not in the boat was engine, seats front and back, gauges, console, hydraulic steering and top load hot foot. The seats were original seats red stripe and white with the original cold pressed Summerford emblem in all four seats. Console was made by Jack at Full Throttle and had stereo, I-pod docking station, old style toggle switches with led indicator lights, Rex shifter and cup holders. Never had a chance to put the glove box in which I still have. All gauges were Gaffirg including Monster GPS Speedo. Aluminum mags were taken and steel rims put on. All parts including engine, gauges, ect I have documented by picts and serial numbers.
One facility on NE 36th Ave, (the only road the Booster Stadium is on) has surveillance tape of vehicles driving by. Ocala Dective in charge of the case is looking into obtaining the tapes. I have tapes of the first vehicle that actually took the boat from St. Augustine. You cal clearly see the truck that took the boat and license plate but cannot pull the numbers off, at least with my equipment. If anyone knows of someone that can enhance the tapes (like you see on CSI) please let me know.
With the help of friends I did pick up the trailer and brought it back home thinking someone might want and original trailer for an STV. I know it is steel but it is what it is. Thank all of you that have tried to help when it was first stolen and hope someone might notice someone with a new engine, seats, gauges, or console in their boat. I know it is a long shot but the friends I have made on here continue to ask about the STV so I know it is still in their minds and thoughts.
One last note I would like to add. I apologize to all for not being at a lot of the events in the past yr and taking picts (which we have always loved to do). The reason is I have come down with a severe case of Eczema. That being said it is hard for me to wear shorts in public or go without a shirt (god I hate long pants) simply because of being self-consunce of the Eczema. I have never in my life been so white LOL. I don’t think crayons have a color as white as I am now. Hard to deal with being I lived in the sun all my life. The heat doesn’t help either. Sorry about being so long winded but simply wanted to give all you guys an up date on the Euro.

Very Sad To See What They Have Done To This Boat , And Carl !
Worst Yet , is knowing that these people involved are still out there in in this area .
Seems this boat never traveled more then 50 miles from where it was taken in the year and a half it was missing .
The thought of the people involved with this could be sitting on the river next to us , just makes me sick !

I"m very sorry for the loss of your boat, now for the second time. I was actually looking for your thread about a week ago to find out if there was any news. This isn't the news that I wanted to find. Hopefully the cops will find the people responsible and put them behimd bars where they belong. This really makes me sick.

Was thinking the same thing that Rich said , And we all will be keeping are eyes open for the riging & stuff in all boats we SEE .
