Well the 60 Etec only did 8 laps & the class 3 Etec finished 8th but 163 laps from number 1 (294 laps). I'll get some info.

Fish no excusses here, I am wondering where the two that were fast in years past were. Does anyone know why the e-tec was behind right from the start or why they were running an older version of the engine. I know its difficult to take a production engine and convert it to go racing against factory built versions, I commend all those that ran the race.

just poking at a couple of the guys on here that take the ford/chevy thing way too seriously racer. I was surprised too, i was hoping for a return to the days of some seriously good racing between the white motors and the black motors and thought this might be the year with as good a product as brp is putting out now. guessing there is more to the story, just would have been nice to see the best of both camps represented and some real racing like in the 70-80's between the two. hopefully next year.

Could somone explain the distinctions between the different classes of boats to me please, also wondering how many NEW optis participated/finished.

The classes are mainly based on motor displacement with a 30% bonus for Green engines
Class 1 : 1 litre (Yamaha 70hp, Mercury 60hp 4 stroke)
Class 2 : 2 litres (SST120 & Optimax)
Class 3 : 3 liters (Champ & Etec 3.3L)
The motors & gearcases have to be certified by the UIM

They were 5 optis participating & 4 finished.

The two carburated 3 liter OMCs were doing great against the 2.5 liter Mercs, but that was a a few years ago...

Actually the rules prevented the New Etecs from using "new" (thus non UIM approved) gearcases...

Yes all engines run 98 RON, which is easy to find in France.

pretty strong running by the optis would be nice to know what broke on the one that did not finish? I see 4 optis finished ahead of the class3 Etech but mercs blog entry says the Etech finished last in class 3 behind 5 class 2 optis?
