does a voltage regulator have anything to do with a cly not getting fire

could be a trigger, switchbox or bad wiring

Wont be trigger, you would be down on 2 cylinders, I would swap primary leads on coil to another coil and see if problem follows, I would also keep it simple and swap plug from a different hole, if these tests fail its the pack.
