I have a bob's lwp on my lower for my V-King. I have not had any problems with it. Mr. Demeanor on here has put a hull mounted p/u on his boat and has a lot of info posted about it. Riverman posts on here and has a viper with a small john rude on it and has a lwp i believe. Do a thread search and check them out.... Might give you some ideas...

My application is a little different because I have a tunnel. The pickup is not disturbing water to my prop.
I am still plating with pickup height. Last time out the trailing edge of the pickup was 1/8" below the running surface with the leading edge even. I still had 20 PSI at 80mph. I raised it even with the running surface for the next test. Its really only going to better for you than a nosecone pickup IF you dont need a cone due to speeds below 80 and you can run faster by raising it higher than you would be able with a cone and maintain pressure. I am running a cone (holes blocked off) for speed and the transom pickup for pressure.
