Yes it has a 1.76 gear ratio. The props from your 3.0 V6 will work.

When I had my Laser (480?) 21' cuddy w/a GT 200 up in Ohio there was a guy w/a V-8 on one that was pretty evil. Was running just under 100 if I recall.
You will have a rig WAY UP on the cool factor when you're done and one of my all time favorites. The 3.6's are just waiting to be hot rodded. Was a local dealer back in the day that had one on a 22' cuddy that would out run the local hot rod 24' Skater w/twin 2.4's on it! (I've seen the video)

i am pretty excited about it. ive been wanting to do this for a long time now. the 1990 3.0 225 is modded up and runs high 80s to sometimes low 90s depending on weather and how much fuel. im running a 32ET and id like to run that same wheel. the 1.76 V8 vs the 1.86 V6 should give me the room for more speed without needing a differnt prop.. i hope!

i am gonna start with the V8 stock and see what it does and go from there. right now its got the 20in mid with the ex snout and a nose cone. all the compression numbers are at 120 vs the 140 im running with the V6 (2.7 heads). its gonna be fun!!

Should be large fun! You have a big enough boat to where the 8 won't look out of place either. I've followed your rig for a while and always wanted one. One of the great things about the 8's is w/the Merc guys bashing them for the last 30 yrs there next to worthless ;) Buy a spare and build modded, complete drop on and leave the other one stock.
Had a friend in Ohio that put a S.E. 8 on a Vegas (new) back in about '89 or so. Boat ran right at 100 and last I talked to him it was still running/orig w/a bazillion hrs on it!

i think i may have another on the way with a 25 inch mid for a parts engine. id like to build up that power head up and maybe swap. how heavy are these things? it cant be more than 150lbs more than the 3.0 looper is it?

heres the one going on the boat:)

6700 on the factory power pack(s). Rapair used to offer 8500rpm packs.
