They basically said they might just shoot someone for open carry. What a load of crap! So if ya have a gun in a gun rack in your truck they're gonna pull you over to see what "your intent" is.

What was wrong with anything he said? He merely stated a fact that a visible weapon creates confusion at a scene where police are called, and tension in a public situation. I would bet that the same people that feel this is profiling, feel that pulling over darkies for proof of citizenship is okay. Slow down on the cowboy movies, ladies.;)
open carry is not a second amendment right.

How many criminals have you ever seen … OR heard of that openly carry? LOL!!!!! :nonod:
What is a "darky". That sounds rather racist to me.
“So law enforcement will start drawing their weapons and challenging these individuals and something bad may very well happen.”
Sounds like a threat.
“The Florida Sheriffs Association (sounded like he was drunk when he stumbled through that) is concerned that allowing legal concealed weapon permit holders to openly wear firearms will increase critical minutes between identifying individuals with potential criminal intent verses law citizens with a legal fire arm. Criminals will be able to use this delay and uncertainty to their advantage.”
I would be worried what I couldn’t see rather than what I could. That is BS. Again, ever see a criminal open carry?
Louisiana was legal open carry for years before a concealed permit was available. I never heard of any incidents involving open carry.
About 20 years ago (when concealed carry was unavailable) we were sand bagging a levee during a flood. There were snakes everywhere. My friend had a .44mag on his side with snake shot and wore it every day. He was in a convenient store (forgot to take it off) was waiting in line… A sheriff deputy was behind him and noticed my friend’s gun. He question him about it, my friend told him the reason. There never was a problem.

leagal open carry is a great crime deterrant, any cop who woud feel nervous around a law-abiding citizen who is carrying a weapon should find another line of work. I bet they would really be nervous in a ground troop somwhere in Iraq withall their fellow sodiers around them carrying AR's and such................

I can't tell you how many times I have been around the police with my glock 17 concealed and a 380 in a pocket, and they never knew. Or some other handgun. Or some security flunkie.

Exactly, and never a problem with ALL law abiding Louisiana residents being able to carry a loaded firearm in their vehicle, CCP or not. Which is still legal! Stay out of Louisiana, Fl. sheriff, you could be surrounded by vehicles with loaded firearms in them!!!!!! OMG!!!! THE HORROR!!!!!
Hey Fl. Sheriff, the way you tell intent is if it's in a holster it's not an immediate threat and the other way is the person with the firearm isn't pointing it at people.
