2001 Rude Fitch 250 problems

stated above has about 420 hrs on it.port side motor was running good ran last time out ran for about 20 minutes then quit. checked a few things .motor would turn over, but not crank. hour later it cranks. did identical thing two more times. now the motor will do nothing. the lights in the tach from left to right come on 1234 ,blink off. then the check engine light comes on and nothing.will not even turn over.
called several Rude dealers with diagnosis computers and they do not seem to eager to work on these/this motor. seems they are some type bastard motor and hard to diagnosis the problems. can u switch computers from one motor to the other to see if it will run> the starboard motor runs great no glitches. any suggestions or advice greatly appreciated.
one shop said $200 to hook it up and check it ,but if their progam was not compatiable we still have to pay the 200. do not mind paying to get it fixed, but can't waste money on it. off shore season is coming and we need to be ready.

Switchin emm's will not hurt anything,good start.:cool:

If you switch the emms only start them, the emm knows the flow rate of each injector so they need to stay matched. If they have the later version of software it will hook to an 01 no problem. If you have held the rpm up in nuetral it will shut down and not allow it to even turn over until the code is cleared, code number for this would be 57. If it was running and got the check engine light could be a number of things. Any authorized dealer with a certified tech should have no problem working on these engines they are not that tough.

My friends 250 had similar symptoms when the EMM was over heating. Wait 30mins or so and it will cool off and run for a while.
