well I probably screwed this up royaly... The last bolt to torque in the divider plate had to strip before it torques at 15 ft lbs.... Tapped it ... Heli coiled it with lock tite....would not hold.. Pulled divider plate off looked at the hole not good ....it can be tapped again but I'm scurd....lookin like the tap will be 7/16"......guess which one it is....your are correct the one at the bottom of the aluminum plate that holds the rectifiers next to the water tube any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated before I start my next attempt.... If I screw this up and it don't hold uuuuh.......I'm so mad I could grind my toenails with a side grinder!!!

Did you try a slightly longer bolt?

And why do you think you need to go to a 7/16" bolt? Why wouldn't the helicoil work?

Yes.....I tried a slightly longer bolt....the heli coil stripped the threads out at 10 lbs of torque... it would not bite and hold when I took the coil out and looked at the hole it was a lot bigger after the threads were stripped so I took a 7/16 tap and held it next to it and man I didn't like what I was looking at.. I really don't want a hole that big BUT I may not have a choice I hate to think it wouldn't hold this time....

What about filling the hole with Devcon and then redrilling it/tapping it again?

It might crack if you try that big bolt. How about cleaning it really well and epoxying a short stud in there? Just a thought.

Thought about devcon or if I can get my hands on some belzona would be better...cracking is exactly what I am scurd of.....I would like to drill it and re-tap it but the epoxied stud is an idea .....I will see what I can get my hands on tomorrow and make a decision from there ....Thanks for the input.....

I have had bad luck with Helicoils I now used nothing but Time Serts they are pricey for the kits but I find are worth the extra money.......

For this one, LocTite makes an epoxy thread repair system. Between that and a slightly longer bolt, you should get a good repair. You should check the calibration on your torque wrench before you do any more.

Trick with the LocTite is to use a good clean, preferably new bolt. It uses the bolt to make the threads.

This is the first bolt i have stripped the threads On in a long time .... this is the only time these bolts have ever been removed from my motor....and to say my wrench could be out of calibration Is not out of the question....Thanks for all the replys and ideas......a tourqe wrench calibration is in check before it sees another bolt......

Thanks
