How do I remove ghosting from old stickers on white Gel

I've taken some stickers off my boat. You can see under the sticker is whiter than around where the sticker was. How to get you get the ghosting off? I tried buffing it out and lightly wet sanding with 2000 git still got the images.

I just removed all my pin stripes off my 92 ,25' pro-line. The result was over the years the gel wore away around the stripes. I took a credit card on edge and could see day lite next to the area where the stripes were. I too tried to buff it out. ended up using 800,1000,1200 with a rubber block and dish soap,just around the stripes. 3m compound. just around the sanded area. color restorer the whole boat ,then wax. I f you can find the stripe let me know as I had a hard time re stripping as I had no reference of where the old ones were. good luck
