2.5 pistons--explanation

Wanted---List of variables in 2.5 pistons--one ring-two ring- side or top pinned---for light or heavy rods---what are the combinations? Where is parts list other than by motor serial #?
What combination are Mahle pistons?

mahle offered in top or bottom guided (big rod) , first mahle in 2.5 had a short wrist pin next gen to end all long pins , best piston merc ever made for the 2.5 motor , all side pinned. covered by ring.

wiseco replacement for the above pistons offered in both fashions after mahles where discontinued in 95.

wiseco starts 95-96 high ring side exposed pin , smaller , lighter top guided rod , in late 96 introduces a beefed up of same version side pinned.

ring skirt lowered because of numerous pin problems.

offered a single ring top pinned piston (drag,etc)as well as a double ring top pinned piston problems with some of them as well.

another rod introduced into the mix

reintroduced back to original design (somewhat) because that did not fix the problem. still the same old piston , same old problem , pin them and you should be ok. diffrent rods so even though the newest piston are the same they are offered for diffrent rods.

there are a few guys pinning them and offering top pin procedures for side pin pistons , all of there work is good.
