Wow! Bravo Al, great looking boat. I can't wait to see it in person

Looking at that reminds me of an S-10 with a big block crammed in. Pure muscle.

Pretty boat, It looks like a Evinrude with a 15" mid would fit under the engine cover:D

The big headers require more room under the engine box than a standard big block, the x is also high.

The boat's beautiful Al, but I'm not quite understanding the need for big tube headers. I can't imagine a need for anything larger than 1 7/8" primary tubes on an engine of that size. My 588ci/800hp NA Sterlings are running a set of special build low-profile 1 7/8" tube CMIs that are only 23" above the crankshaft centerline.

Dale are you positive the primary header tube diameter is only 1 7/8" on the 588s??
If it is,IMO Sterling is leaving substantial power on the table...
On my itty bitty 302ci (with a little extra stroke) i run 1 3/4"..
I know Old School 101 thinking is dont use big primary's/single plane intake/big CFM mech Sec Carbs/big CC runner Cyl heads if you want low end torque, but its all about the cam timing events and other factors, you will have to shoe my junk someday..
My next build will be a 4.200" inch bore on that same 302 based block (aftermarket) and i will upgrade to 1 7/8" primaries:)

Dale the headers were taller than the cmi on my 565 and not having the engine I wanted to make sure they cleared. Thanks for all the compliments on the boat.

Positive Kev. I went over this with D'Annibel when he was building my motors. He said that the 2 1/8" primary Big Tubes would have gained just slightly at high rpm, but lose throughout the midrange. As you know, I built the boat for the larger waters of the Delta and the SF Bay which don't allow for a lot of time at 150+, so Mike recommended the 1 7/8" for my application. I never argue with my engine builder, especially when he holds rights to powering the world's fastest piston engine cat and v-bottom!

I get it now. My motors/headers didn't fit under the hatches when they first tried to put them in, so I know where you're coming from when making sure you've got enough clearance! And you'll always get compliments from me on your boats Al, you build the best lake/river boats out there!

Yello is my favorite color, and with the red accents makes it gorgeous. I'm guessing that this is all gelcoat and no paint, correct? It also looks to have a thick layer of clear gelcoat to give it that high gloss, correct?
