Hi Guys,
I just purchased a boat with a mercury V6 outboard. Its got low water pickups an a racing cowl. The previous owner said it was a 2.5 litre F1 block with standard heads. I'm just trying to identify the motor as best as possible. Particularly the age and HP of the block. The block has the numbers 884-858257-c1 and t also has a 3 in a square and an = in a circle with a line through it. Any idea if it is a 2L, 2.4L or 2.5L? Would it be an F1 block or possibly the bridgeport block? After a google search I discovered the following:The carbs are 1386-7598 (Quicksilver Mercury Carbs) And the heads are 18488-C4 (2.5 L Mercury Heads). I cannot find anything about the block. Any help would be appreciated.
