I have several ECU's from some old motors... I checked the bigger hammer site and saw what they orig. came on.. Was just wondering if one is a better box for performance, or if one was more fuel stingy... Boxes I have are...
A-1,A17,A8,A26 No rev limiters were shown on these boxes at bigger hammer... Thanks for any info on these things you may have....

Cool , thanks for the info... The A17 is off of a mariner magnum I have. The A1 is the one I am currently running. I will switch them around and run it . Can post some pics tomorrow pm. The A26 is from a 98 regular 200 EFI that was on my bro's boat and was not listed on the big hammer ecu listing. Boat was a fish boat so never revved over 5700.. Will the A17 also have some difference in it's fuel and timing curve?

if the a17 is a promax box the label will say 225 promax which was on the 1996/98model Promaxs and Magnums if its the early A17 which i have 2 of them they are early 200 boxs with no pig tail on the harness the promax box will be too fat for a regular 200!!!! previous poster was right on on the ID's

Thanks Texas, learning more about these things all the time. I buy older motors and switch parts around to get 1 runner out of 2-3 of them.. I'm trying to learn all I can about the different parts and models....Since I have several sets of heads, going to have a set cut dn. for more comp, target is 140 #s. Built/repaired fiberglass stuff for years, but don't know much about modding motors...

The limiters in these boxes aren't hard limiters, but they go full rich to limit the rpm. I've seen some the 200 boxes go rich at 5800 and some over 6250 and some that had no limit. The a17 if it's a 225promax box is way to rich for a stock 200,but do a little cutting and it will work. I run a rapair modified 200 box on mine and have turned it @ 9000 a few times
