Mercury Sportjet premix or not ???

I know this discussuion has run and run now, but i'm still not sure of best option.

I've got a Regal with a 1999 Sportjet 175. The engine is in the shop now being rebuilt (previous owner ignored the oil buzzer).
Question / Dilema is while its stripped should i replace the gear drive and refurb the oil injection or should i cut my losses and go to premix.

Also i've read about the electronic oil pump by marine solutions but it seems expensive compared to refurbing the original seen as the engines stripped anyway.

The oil injection system is fairly reliable, premix is more reliable but gives you more smoke and burns more oil. For the most part, given the type of boat that is, I'd stay with the oil injection and pay attention to the horn.........
