200 225 Difference?

What's the difference between the 1989 Evinrude 200 and 225? Whats makes up the extre 25 HP?

Carbs. Bigger venturi bores, and bigger jets. 200 carbs have 2 screws holding the throttle plate to the shaft, 225 carbs have 3.
225 carbs are about 3/8 inch bigger inside bore.

The HO models are a different story. The 225Ho has exhaust port differences, plus the bigger carbs.

No HO in 89. The different carb size is on the 25 inch engine, if you have a 200 XP in 89 they had the same powerhead assembly
