Try www.totallystainless.com (http://www.totallystainless.com). They have some high stength 9/16 but I don't remember if they have fine thread.

ARP has added 1/2" in both fine and coarse thread to their 2011 catalog. Those should hold anything.

5.5"? What are you trying to go through...that's long as heck. 3" is the longest 9/16-18 I've seen. You can get up to 5" long in 5/8-18 though. http://www.mcmaster.com/#92198a501/=b1viyd

You might try to find some "ALL THREAD ROD" in 9/16-18 thread. Then have the nuts welded on one end and make them as long as you want............ Another option for you would be to find a metric fine threaded rod of similar diameter...........

Try fastenal. In looking at their web site for Hex cap screws they only have 9/16 x 5.5 in corse threas. Fine thread is only avaliable in 5" and 8". Nothing inbetween.

Thanks guy's ! I was kicking around all thread and welding nuts on but really not sure how heat would affect stainless strength at the end of the day . Went to Fastenal and no go , only fine thread in 9/16 up to 4 inch . I thought a few years ago I saw 9/16 fine thread bolts for sale on this site .

What Metric size= 9/16 in fine thread ?

9/16 is 14.29 mm. So 14mm would be close.

14mm = .5512 ths while 9/16" = .5625

Is that a fine thread ? I found 9/16 x 5.5 in course thread but at the end of day more than likely no more clamping force than fine thread 1/2 when you think about it . Pretty much given up looking , just went to Mc caster car and no fine thread stainless rod , only course thread

2.0 is course thread in metric. You simply are not going to find fine thread US or metric in that length. The only other option is to have them custom made at a machine shop and at a premium price.

How about all thread ?

You are not going to find fine pitch all thread in a grade sutiable for your application.

Check your PM.

Skater 32

CMC stainless plates

Yeah Cmc drills there 5.5 jackplates 9/16 for some reason?

I pulled mine last year because the 1/2 bolts were letting my motors pull together. from turning my props in.
I bought the 9/16 stainless dowel and had them thread and weld a nut and washer on one end and thread the other. I would not use threaded rod.
I had a few extra made. I will see if i cant get you a pic.

How about going with a stronger grade of stainless like 17-4 preciptation hardening (PH) instead of more typical 18-8 or 300 series, I bet you can find the bolts you want in coarse thread.

Go to www.pointe-products.com, in the search box select Bolts & Cap Screws, click on Bolts & Cap Screws, click on Hex Cap Screws Grade 8 (SAE) Fine thread, scroll almost to the end selecting item 06-15292, and there you will see 9/16"-18 X 5 1/2" Grade 8 Hex Head Cap Screw, $16.43 each. They also have a 6" version for $17.84 if you're not sure about the length. Ironically the fine thread nuts are available at most hardware stores.

Hope this helps.

Thanks ! But I need stainless

I'd suspect a Grade 8 coated bolt would work fine, even in salt. I would not hesitate to use it as opposed to SS.

Both 9/16" and 5/8" NF are 18 threads per inch. With a little creativity I'll bet a 5/8" could be massaged to a 9/16" and solve your problem. Turn down the OD, re-thread with a 9/16" die and I think you would be good to go.

Just a thought.

Has anyone found a vendor for the brass nylok nuts to match to either Grade 8 or SS transom bolts? Not easy to find which surprised me.

Call Darris @ Allison Boats. His upper mounting bolts are 9/16" fine thread stainless, so I'm sure he would tell you where to get them.
